Ikuko Osumi Sensei: Japanese Master of Seiki Jutsu
When I was eight years old, I knew that I was an "unusual" child. I had strange visions that often amazed the villagers. I knew the sex of an unborn baby that was being carried by a pregnant fisherman's wife. I was also a veritable weather forecaster for the village. I never failed to predict the weather for the following day and the fishermen counted on me to help them in their work. I also became well known to the surrounding area for my clairvoyance.
One time a driver of a cart picked me up and gave me a ride to my grandfather's house. I thought I saw a sick man lying in the back of the cart. He was wearing an unusual pair of green pantaloons. I asked the driver who the man was with the bright clothing and he turned around and looked puzzled. He didn't know what I was talking about.
"The man right there," I said. "The one wearing those funny green pantaloons." The driver looked very perplexed, but managed to say, "That could be my brother because he is mighty proud of those pantaloons, but where is he?" He did not see anyone in the back of the cart. I then gasped because I turned and saw that the man I was describing was dead. I told the driver, "Your brother is lying in the back and he is dead."
He let me off the cart and turned around to go home as fast as the cart could take him. When he arrived his wife met him with the news that his brother had fallen on his fishing boat, become caught in his tackle, and fallen into the water and drowned.
These kind of stories made me well known as a child clairvoyant.
The Transmission or instillation of Seiki
SEIKI, the vital life force, is the primordial energy that exists throughout the entire universe. The transmission of this energy into another human being is called seiki jutsu or the art of seiki. When seiki is transmitted to another person, it will stay with that person for their entire lifetime. Through the daily practice of seiki exercise, your health will be optimized and you will nurture seiki to be available for self-healing. And as this seiki matures within you, you will be naturally led to heal others.
On the day that I instill seiki, I clean the house inside and out. I water the flowers in the living room and in the garden. I make every effort to create a comfortable environment. The bedding is carefully prepared for the recipient. I double-check the temperature and humidity of the room as well as the lighting.
I transmit seiki at a specific place and time. The place is a tiny three-mat room in the corner of the second floor of my house, the same place I received it from my aunt. Like the seasonal rhythms of my garden, I must wait for the right time to give seiki to a patient. I wait until I know when this should take place.
There are specific locations on the earth where the optimal flow of seiki is available at a certain time of day. These places are all over the world. I can intuitively feel these places and that is where I place the seiki stool.
Although I think it is possible to transmit seiki to any person, it is best to give it to someone who has been prepared beforehand. This opens them to be more receptive to its flow.
These general conditions should be met when transmitting seiki: (1) occurrence in a place and time where the purest and most concentrated seiki is available; (2) appropriate preparation of the patient's body so that it is readily open to the experience; (3) the attuned preparation of the body and soul of the transmitter; and finally, (4) a mutual trust between the receiver and the person who gives seiki.
When the receiver comes he or she is first given a massage treatment and given time to rest. I then drink some lemon juice and have a light lunch. When the time is right I bring them to the three-mat room where they sit on the special seiki stool.
I begin by giving the receiver a prayer that asks that he or she will be most pleased and happy with the transmission.
While the person is seated on the stool, which is placed exactly on the spot where the seiki line flows, we give treatment to the head, the shoulders, and to the lower back, responding to what I call the "callings of the receiver's body." I do this work with my assistant, Takafumi Okajima.
Preparation of the lower part of the back, the sacrum, is crucial. This is where seiki is received and special treatment is given to it so that the whole body is relaxed.
I then begin feeling the heavy and abundant flow of seiki gathering from every direction. My assistant and I attract and gather seiki to the area where we are working. This is done by drawing upon the accumulated seiki in our own bodies as well as through the commotion of making loud noises, whether it be from shouting or from banging on the wall. My whole body shakes from this concentrated energy.
I then make the seiki warm and heavy, attracting it to the recipient. We brace ourselves for transmission and get ready for the special moment.
When it is time for transmission, I experience no ego consciousness and there is no separation between my mind and body. I feel that I have become absorbed into the body of the recipient. The seiki will soon flow naturally into their body. When this takes place they will receive exactly the right amount and the whole operation will be done in the same manner as a perfectly orchestrated dance.
Finally, my hands and those of my assistant are placed upon one another in order to transmit seiki. It comes through our hands.
My hands feel like they are absorbed into the receiver's body. I experience the flow of seiki into them both mentally and physically. It enters their body through their head. At the instant of transmission, the receiver and I become one being. Our bodies and minds are brought into harmonious unity.
This is when we feel a beautiful rhythm. As the receiver receives the necessary amount of seiki, their head becomes free from the hold of our hands.
The transmitter's hands are put onto the receiver's head again, covering the whirl of the hair. At this moment their body begins rocking back and forth or from side to side. This takes place gradually and naturally.
When the head of the receiver separates from my hands again, their body will continue to rock. The movements will differ from person to person. The movements may be forwards and backwards, left and right, a circular pattern, or restricted to the shoulders, arms, or other body parts, while some people will appear not to move at all, although they feel movement within. Some will be more active than others and there are many diVerent kinds of patterned movements. This natural movement is the starting point of well-being through seiki jutsu.
